The Lion's Den by Katherine St. John AND Geisha, A Life by Meiko Atawki

Hello my lovely readers!

Sigh.

These two books just were not it. So much so, that I decided to do a double review rather than talk about each separately.

Let's get started with The Lion's Den by Katherine St. John.

SUMMARY
Belle is invited for a week-long yacht trip with her friend Summer and the rest of their girlfriends. Summer's boyfriend is the much older billionaire John Lyons.

However, this yacht trip is anything but pleasant as Belle discovers how far Summer will go to keep up appearances.

MY THOUGHTS
Meh. It held my attention long enough on my honeymoon, but I thought Belle was such a whiny character. Everything was a bit too on the nose with motives and side characters. This was definitely more of a tell and not show book, which I don't particularly care for.

Now on to Geisha, A Life by Meiko Atawki

SUMMARY
Mineko Atawki was the greatest geisha that ever lived in Japan. She started training for the life at the young age of five and then retired at the ripe old age of 29.

We'll hear about her ups and downs and why the geisha life is considered an art form and what led to her leaving it.

MY THOUGHTS
I'm sorry, but I could not get through this book. I actually DNF'd it. Meiko came across as super spoiled and bratty. I've heard rumblings that this was her chance to correct the version of herself put out by the fictional Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden, but I just couldn't take it.

Both books were huge disappointments. Here's to better reads this month!
