Bookish Thoughts....

 Hello my lovely readers!

This is just a random post on some bookish thoughts floating in my head.

  • I've done something I never thought I'd do...listen to audiobooks. I've always sworn them off, but now I see them as a supplement. It started when I began reading The Love Songs of W.E.B Dubois by Honoree Fanonne Jeffers. I'm almost finished with it, but it's is a chunker at 800+ pages! There was no way I'd be able to finish it in time for book club (still not finishing it in time for book club smh) with how busy life has been and all of my traveling this month. The audiobook has helped me tremendously and since I have the physical copy, I still can annotate it with my thoughts. I really do think audiobooks will help me reach my reading goal this year especially with how much my schedule changes and how much traveling I'm doing.

  • I was put on game today (thanks to my lovely coworkers) that the Libby app lets your listen to audiobooks or rent books from the library on your Kindle FOR FREE as long as you have a library card. Talk about GAME CHANGER! I've been trying to figure out how to extend my audiobook free trials without having to create a whole bunch of new emails. Thank you Libby! I'm super excited to use it.

  • The books I've read so far this year are miles above what I read last year. It seems like each book has hit it out of the park with writing and storytelling. Yay! I started reading Linden Hills by Gloria Naylor and I already know I'm going to love it. I've always loved reading books by and about Black people, but these books I've been reading so far this year have been KILLING IT. I'm very happy. Plus, I haven't broken my book ban (except for when I went to the U.K. and Ireland) so everything I'm reading, I own.

  • I think next year, my goal will continue of reading what I own, but I also want to utilize my library card more. Growing up, I LIVED in the library. My entire adulthood, I've always owned a library card, but I never really take advantage of their resources. I want to make a point to do that from now own. Just like how I support my local indie bookstores, I want to support my local libraries.
Well, that's it. Just some bookish thoughts and content for you. I'm off to finish Love Songs!
